Daylilies are perennials that come in all sizes from tall to dwarf as well as a
wide variety of colors.  They like sun to part shade and are undemanding;
they can thrive in heat, drought and moderate soils.

The scientific name for daylily is Hemerocallis.  The word Hemerocallis is
derived from two Greek words meaning "beauty" and "day," referring to the
fact that each flower lasts only one day. To make up for this, there are
many flower buds on each daylily flower stalk, and many stalks in each
clump of plants; so, the flowering period of a clump is usually several
weeks long. And, many varieties have more than one flowering period. By
planting different varieties in your yard it is possible to have a continuous
show of flowers through out the spring and summer.

Daylilies look great in mass plantings, along borders or pathways, in front
of tall shrubs or fences.  They can also be added to perennials gardens.  
Their grass like leaves add movement to a landscape and foliage interest
even when not in flower.  They also do great in container gardens.
